Flow Logistics & FAQ
How do I book a Flow? Do I book all lessons at once?
No need to book them all at once! When you click on a specific lesson in the roadmap above, you are simply booking that single 60-minute session. When you finish a session, simply return to this roadmap and click the next lesson to book it. You are in full control of your own pacing!
What are the different Lesson Types?
Standard Lessons: A balanced mix of reading, vocabulary, and guided speaking.
Speaking Lessons: 100% focused on conversational output and roleplay.
Critical Reading: You'll read a short article before class, and we'll debate the concepts live.
Flipped Classroom: You'll learn the vocabulary/grammar beforehand so class time is purely for speaking practice!
What are "Optional Follow-up Lessons"?
Some lessons naturally spark a need for a deeper dive into a specific grammar rule or require extra reading practice. We've nested these optional follow-up lessons under the core lessons in the timeline. You can book them if you feel you need extra help on that topic, or simply skip them and move directly to the next core lesson!
Are these grammar lessons?
No, these are speaking and output sessions. While we will briefly review key vocabulary and sentence structures related to the topic, 80% of the session is dedicated to you actively speaking, roleplaying, or debating.
What if I don't know my exact English level?
Don't worry! The levels (A1 to C1) are just guidelines to help you find a Flow that matches your vocabulary and grammar. If you pick a Flow that feels a little too hard or too easy during the session, your coach will naturally adjust how they speak to perfectly match your pace.
How long are the sessions?
By default, all sessions are scheduled for up to 60 minutes. However, depending on your pace and how quickly we successfully complete the lesson, a session will typically last anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes.
What software do we use for the call?
We use Google Meet or VooV for all of our 1-on-1 sessions. Once you book a topic, you will receive a calendar invitation with a direct link to join the video call. You can join from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Can I cancel or reschedule my session?
Yes, absolutely. You can reschedule or cancel your session directly through the link in your confirmation email. We kindly ask that you give us at least 24 hours' notice so we can open up that time slot for other students.
How much does a session cost?
Payments are made strictly per session at the time of booking. You never have to pay for a whole Flow upfront!
Note: Members with an All-Access Pass automatically receive a discounted rate on all live coaching sessions.
Who are the coaches?
Jason (Founder & Lead Coach): Based in California, Jason is a professional English coach. Having studied Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese, he knows firsthand the challenges of language learning and can offer multilingual support to beginners. He focuses on building your confidence with real, everyday American English.
Takashi (Coach): Based in Japan, Takashi is a close friend of Jason's who successfully mastered English himself. He provides a highly supportive, low-pressure environment perfect for other Japanese natives learning English. A huge gaming fan, Takashi specializes in casual daily conversation and practicing English while playing games together.
Why is Takashi only available for A1 Flows?
Both Jason and Takashi are available for A1 (beginner) sessions. However, for A2 through C1 Flows, Jason will be your dedicated coach. While Takashi is fully fluent, he currently focuses his coaching time exclusively on helping our newest beginners build their foundational confidence.
